An Early Floor Rug with a Variegated Grey Field and a Large, Serrated Diamond, Navajo, circa 1890 - 1900.

The rug measures 63 inches long by 39 inches wide, as woven. Condition is excellent with less than 3% restoration. Colors are original and full.

Navajo floor rugs almost always feature border designs. The absence of a border design recalls the edge-to-edge compositions of 19th century Navajo serapes. The balance of colors in the grey field of this blanket is especially well done.
